Portugal v Spain
(7 October 2020, 19.45 GMT)
Dozens, maybe even hundreds of games will take place this week with many countries facing each other in a friendly and/or the Nations League, but this is the one I’m looking forward to the most. We all remember that thrilling game between these two countries at the World Cup of 2018 with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring that brilliant free-kick in the dying seconds to make it 3-3. This is the first time these countries will meet after that fantastic game.
Portugal won the first season of the UEFA Nations League and managed to began their defence of that title with dominant victories over Croatia and Sweden in the previous match rounds with super star Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way.
For most of the matches, it’s just a friendly, but I don’t think either team will feel that way here. The winner will have bragging rights for months, or even years to come. Portugal haven’t lost in their last five friendly matches and their last one ended in a 3-1 victory over Scotland. Together with that, manager Fernando Santos has won 9 of the last 10 games with his Portugal and I think we can add another win to that tally.
That’s why I’m going with Portugal -0.50 which gives great odds of 2.5 + going around.
